MHACA is establishing a Suicide Bereavement Support Group for adults who have been closely affected by a suicide. It is an opportunity for group members to gain support, insight and understanding from other people who have similar experiences, in a safe and confidential space.
In early 2020 MHACA engaged the professional services of Jesuit Social Services to deliver facilitator training to both MHACA professional and peer support staff. Support group training empowers staff in these roles to understand suicide bereavement issues and respond effectively and sensitively to people bereaved by suicide.
The support group will be delivered monthly and facilitated by both professionals and peer workers.
