We had a great time at Stress Less in the Plaza last Friday! Over 500 people attended the event and learnt more about how to support their mental health and wellbeing. Attendees enjoyed a dance fit session, free massages, live music, arts & crafts and other fun activities. 14 local organisations hosted stalls and shared information about the supports people in Mpartnwe/Alice Springs can access.

A special thank you to Kumalie Kngwarraye for the Welcome to Country, Northern Territory PHN, Plaza Wellbeing Centre, Foodbank SA & Central Australia, Alice Springs Town Council, Alice Plaza, 8CCC Community Radio 102.1fm - Alice Springs & Tennant Creek and to stakeholders and community members who came and stressed less with us.

Stress Less in the Plaza is the feature event of Mental Health Week and is organised by MHACA, with the support of partner organisations, the Northern Territory PHN and Alice Plaza.

Love it! Pity it was after school holidays had finished

You guys did the great job. Thank you Mental Health Association Central Australia team.😇👍💝

This week is #NationalCarersWeek is a time to recognise the exceptional role carers play in the lives of those they care for.

Carers Australia’s 2024 Carer Wellbeing Survey shows that carers are three times as likely to report being lonely compared to non-carers, have higher than average rates of psychological distress compared to the general population, and consistently experience poorer financial wellbeing.

This week's theme this year is ‘Show them you care’ with the aim to raise awareness of the family and friends who care for people with living or lived experience of mental health challenges, disability, chronic illness, substance-related issues, or the aged.

Let’s celebrate and thank carers for the incredible work they do and show them we care. Learn more at carersweek.com.au
