Activities Officer

We are seeking an Activities Officer who can bring some good energy to our Drop-in Centre and group activities at the Mental Health Association of Central Australia.

We are looking for someone who can start immediately.

About the Role 

The Activities Officer will work in MHACA’s Day Program which facilitates a Drop-in Centre for MHACA participants, and a range of social and recreational group activities. The Day Program supports people living with mental health challenges and is a safe space for people to connect with others.

As required the role will provide administrative support to the program. The role will also support the facilitation of group activities, and the daily functioning of the Drop-in Centre.

The role is 34.9 hours per week (Tuesday-Friday 8am-4pm, Saturday 9.30am-2pm)

Role Responsibilities:

  • Help organise and deliver educational and recreational activities which are diverse and culturally appropriate.
  • Engage and accompany participants to centre-based and community activities.
  • Actively engage with MHACA participants in the Drop-in Centre – having yarns, play games and assist with participant support needs.
  • Collaborate with Day Program team members to maintain the Drop-in Centre which includes assisting with meal preparation and cleaning the facility.
  • Assist with participant transportation
  • Keep accurate documentation including making sure the daily activities and Drop-in Centre attendance sheets are filled out and processed.
  • Support administration tasks as required.
  • Support identification of risk, participate in quality processes and complete staff training.

The Central Australian Suicide Prevention Training Program aims to increase the NT population's protective factors through training and education. It promotes awareness, literacy and intervention that can help to prevent escalating distress and the incidence of suicide behaviours in the community.

The Training Manager will develop and deliver a program of external training workshops to strengthen the capacity of the Central Australian community members to identify and respond to suicide risk and mental health challenges.

The role is fulltime - 38 hours a week.

Level 6 MHACA EBA $107451.72 – $112,201.63

Applications will close 4pm Friday 17 January, however we may arrange interviews earlier with suitable candidates so please apply as soon as possible.
