October Group Activities Calendar

Highlights in October include new weekly sports activities: Sports at the Y every Monday between 11am-12pm, Swimming every Tuesday between 11:30am-12:30pm and Basketball every Wednesday between 10am – 11am. MHACA will also host a Halloween Morning Tea on Thursday 31 October 10:30am-11:30 at the Drop-in Centre, spooky outfits encouraged!

Weekend activities include the Ten Pin Bowling, Road Transport Hall of Fame visit, Cinema, and a day trip to Standley Chasm.

MHACA can also provide individual support and is a registered NDIS provider.

In addition to structured activities, a Drop-in Centre is open Monday 8.30am – 1.30pm, Tuesday – Friday from 8.30am to 3.00pm.

The Drop-in Centre is a welcoming space where people can connect with others and participate in activities. It provides:

  • a comfy lounge area
  • kitchen facilities
  • computers with internet access
  • activities such as board games and craft
  • musical instruments
  • laundry and bathroom facilities.

In December 2024 the Australian Government and Gayaa Dhuwi - Proud Spirit - Australia launched the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention Strategy 2025-2035.

The suicide rate of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is more than double that of the broader community.

The Strategy sets a path for all governments to work in genuine partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations and communities to reduce the rates of suicide and self-harm by driving culturally safe and responsive solutions.
